Michès Playa Esmeralda Dominican Republic

We just returned from a fantastic nine night stay as our first time at a Club Med. As a family with three active young boys, we all had a wonderful time and the GOs really made it a special trip. It was peaceful and not crowded but still lively.

The Mini Club program for the kids was perfect. Our boys wanted to go every day and we are very grateful for the whole Mini club team, especially Sarah, MJ, Jean Charles, Louise, and Carm Suze. They are so amazing and work with the kids all day and then even perform in the evening shows! Our boys adored them and they showed such care for the kids.

The circus/trapeze team was also phenomenal. Everyone in our family got to try it and Kenzy, Nacho and Joel were so patient and great instructors. I have a decent fear of heights and was SO nervous but Kenzy got me though it! Seeing them perform in the nighttime shows was also such a treat - they are SO talented!

We had a Deluxe Family Room in Explorer Cove and it was perfect for the five of us. The kids all got their own beds in their own room and we had two bathrooms, which was so helpful. Housekeeping was great and the room was kept clean and nice.

Food was great quality and variety and we were all very satisfied. We did not feel the need to eat at the steakhouse but had a great experience reserving an anniversary dinner at Coco Plum one night. Coco Plum lunch and the special lunches/beach BBQs were especially great! Anik, a GO from reception, joined us for dinner one night and it was really special.

The beach is perfection and the pools are superb, especially the Zen pool for adults with the swim-up bar! We never had an issue finding chairs, even in the shade.

Bring a small umbrella for occasional heavy rain showers. There is one large one in the room but it was nice to have a small one to share with the family, too. The weather apps were pretty much useless. They called for rain the whole week but it was only occasional showers and we had plenty of sun.

The sunset ritual event on the beach was so fun! Also, the included sound therapy session a the spa was great - sign up ahead of time at the spa to get a spot.

Booking airport transfer service from the Punta Cana airport through Club Med was seamless and worth it! Just bring a portable booster seat or car seat if you have a little one that needs it.

Bring more sunscreen than you think you will need…and sun shirts/hats were helpful! Also, apply bug spray. Even if you don’t see them and don’t think you are getting bit, we learned that sand flea bites can have a delayed reaction if you have never experienced them before. We didn’t feel or see bites when we were there but traveling home and in the few days since, they have started to show up all over our legs and I wish we had just used some of the spray provided in the rooms and brought some.

I’m glad we got some photos from the official photographers. I got an email with a discount to use while we were still onsite and that was a seamless experience to stop by the photography center on the last night and purchase a package.

We looked into excursions but ultimately decided to just utilize all the included features of the resort, since there was so much to do! Booking extra things (excursions, spa, dinners) happen onsite after you arrive, but I do recommend downloading the app and looking at that ahead of time. Bringing things to match the dress code/themes for each night was fun!

It was a vacation that we will never forget and we would definitely return!

Severine and anais made the trip so much more enjoyable. They were always kind and fun to hang out with.

We had a wonderful stay at Club Med Michès. The resort itself is stunning, and the beach and sea are absolutely breathtaking, with clear turquoise water and soft sand that feels like a little piece of paradise on earth.

What really made our trip exceptional was the Mini Club and Kids Club. Aminata at the Mini Club was incredible: warm, attentive, and so caring with our little ones that they were excited to see her every day. At the Kids Club, Sarah and Princess Coco quickly became our children’s absolute favorites, and Robin went out of his way to get our son excited and engaged with the activities. All the staff members who looked after our kids were fantastic, organizing a wide variety of fun and memorable experiences, from trapeze and kayaking to creative games and group activities.

The food throughout the resort was delicious, with plenty of variety.

If we could suggest a couple of small improvements, we would have loved to see more local bands and artists performing in the evenings. It might also be nice to have a few more quiet areas without constant music, for guests who enjoy a calmer atmosphere at times.

Overall, Club Med Michès exceeded our expectations, and we would highly recommend it to any family looking for a beautiful, relaxing, and truly child-friendly vacation.

We had such a wonderful time on this trip. We’ve been to several other club meds and this was one of the best. The resort and landscape are so beautiful and all of the GOs were so helpful. The main highlight was time at the trapeze. Claudia, Candela, Taco and the whole circus team were so fun, helpful and kind.
