My husband, our 10-year-old daughter, and I just returned from a week at Club Med Cancun that was the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and quality time together. The resort and Club Med team delivered on every front: gorgeous beaches perfect for swimming, engaging activities for all ages, abundant food and drinks, and a fun atmosphere that made it easy to connect with other travelers and staff. This was our first time at a Club Med and we are big fans.
Below are details on specific things we enjoyed about our trip.
Flying trapeze: The trapeze was a major highlight, thanks to the dedication and talents of the Circus team: Adan, Aki, Margot, Pia, Remy, and Silver. Their encouraging attitude and skilled instruction helped us and many other guests experience the thrills and challenges of trapeze. After getting to know the team as instructors, it was especially exciting and impressive to watch them perform beautifully choreographed and daring acts in the evening shows. Special mention to Sara, whom we knew as our sailing instructor, but whom we also discovered was an incredible circus performer!
Diving: Another highlight were the scuba diving experiences provided by the Ancila Tours team. Paco conducted a thorough refresher course for my husband and I, and Juan guided us on two beautiful dives at Punta Cancun. Juan was also the patient and gentle instructor who gave our daughter her very first scuba experience right off the resort beach. She was thrilled to see a lionfish, a lobster, and countless other fish on her first ever dive! And Pancho took fantastic dive photos of us. Very well run organization.
Mini Club: Our 10 year old daughter immediately took to her Mini Club crew and ended up spending every day with them. She made a close friend her age on day one and was particularly fond of the waterslides and trapeze activities. The GOs - Cassidy, Ivan, Jess, Tcheka, Sergio, Sammy, and Pierre - kept the kids engaged, active, and happy all day long.
Other daytime activities: The resort's setup made it easy to balance couple time, family time, and personal time.My husband and I loved having time together for sailing, Latin dance lessons, and learning pickleball, while also enjoying solo pursuits like gym workouts and yoga. Every instructor we encountered was welcoming, fun, and knowledgeable. With our daughter, we also enjoyed snorkeling, swimming at the various pools and beaches, lounging at various bars, and frolicking at the foam party.
Dining: We ate most breakfasts and lunches at Taco Arte, which is a beautifully sited open air restaurant right on the water near the Aquamarina (Family) buildings where we stayed. We had dinner at Hacienda buffet and at the reserved restaurants (Taco Arte and La Estancia) on different nights. The Hacienda offered excellent variety at a very high quality for a buffet. The seafood dishes at Taco Arte and steak dishes at La Estancia were all well executed. The staff at all venues were attentive and made every meal enjoyable. We'd never done an all inclusive resort before, and we enjoyed not having to make decisions about where to eat or how much to spend on meals.
Entertainment: We caught three evening shows and were impressed by the choreography (kudos to Sandry!) and the dedication of the GOs, who learned, rehearsed and performed elaborate dance routines on top of their regular daytime roles.
Rooms: We stayed in the Aguamarina building on the far end of the resort. We loved the ocean view and my daughter loved having her own bedroom and bathroom. It was a good location for us and other families with children under 10, given the proximity to the Mini Club building and the water park. However, we all spent much of each day on the other side of the resort near the Hacienda, the main beach, the main pool, and Sports Island. In the future, we'd probably try to stay closer to that side of things, especially as our daughter will be older, and would be with the teens instead.
Conclusion: We got tremendous value out of what Club Med offers and highly recommend their Cancun resort to families looking for a fun, active, and relaxing vacation.
