Phuket Island in Thailand has a number of beautiful beaches. Besides the ever-popular Patong Beach, another beach that's famous with travellers is Surin Beach. Located a short drive north of Patong, Surin is a quieter beach on the west coast of Phuket.

It used to be a party beach with beach bars and clubs along the coast, but has now transformed into a calmer area surrounded by luxury resorts and hotels. That being said, there are still a lot of things to do on and around the beach. Plus, it's a great place to avoid the crowd. Read the post below if you want to know what to do on Surin Beach.

1. Relax on the Beach

Just like any other beach, Surin Beach is a great place to get your tan on and relax. You can sunbathe while reading a good book, just lounge on the sand doing nothing, or have a picnic with your family. Being a quieter beach, Surin is a suitable place to relax at if you want to avoid crowded areas. There are even local hawker stalls selling fruits, drinks, and snacks around the car park.

2. Watersports

If you like watersports, then Surin Beach is a must-visit Phuket attraction. It has an impressive list of available water activities and vendors that you can rent equipment from. Some of the activities available are snorkelling, kayaking, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, and boogie boarding. The waters here are clear during Phuket's high season from November to March but the low season (May to October) is popular with surfers and boogie boarders. However, the beach may be better suited for advanced surfers since there are large rocks and sandbanks that can create tricky waves.

3. Visit the Green Elephant Sanctuary Park

The Green Elephant Sanctuary Park is only 10 minutes away from Surin Beach. It's an elephant sanctuary where you can see elephants in their natural habitat and interact with them. It's located in the middle of a huge jungle, making it a great place for the elephants to live in. They are also one of the few sanctuaries that focus on protecting and providing the best care for the elephants, with many of the gentle giants here being rescued from abusive parks.

4. Cable Jungle Adventure

The Cable Jungle Adventure Phuket is a must-visit for travellers that want an adrenaline rush at the top of the jungle canopy. Located deep in Phuket's jungle, it has a long flying fox zipline course that provides a quick and safe jungle adventure for the whole family. With 21 stations and a total cable run length of 2000 metres, you could spend more than two hours zip-lining through the canopy at up to 50 metres above the ground.

5. Get a Traditional Thai Massage

No trip to Thailand is complete without getting a Thai massage, and there are plenty of traditional massage parlours and spas in Phuket including around Surin beach. You can choose from a simple foot massage to a full body scrub and massage with Thai aromatic oil. At Club Med Phuket, we offer massages and facial treatments that are sure to rejuvenate and relax, so be sure to ask us about our spa offerings when you stay with us.

6. Go Scuba Diving

Scuba diving is one of the top attractions in Phuket. In fact, most beaches in Phuket are a short distance from dive centres where you can book dive tours, rent equipment, and purchase dive gears. Phuket has a number of dive spots and with the large coral reef system around the island, you can expect to bump into colourful tropical fishes, turtles, rays and even multiple species of sharks. Some famous dive locations include Phi Phi island and Shark Point.

Surin Beach is a great location to spend your holiday. Besides lounging and engaging in watersports, make sure you don't miss out on the other Phuket attractions as well.

If you're staying at Club Med Phuket, we can arrange fun activities and excursions for you from massages to scuba diving tours. So don't hesitate to check out our offerings!
