On the beach itself, head to the northern tip if you want to access the quieter part of Karon Beach with crystal clear waters and wider stretches of sand. However, if you want the convenience of renting sunbeds and umbrellas as well as access to drink stalls and massage stalls, then head to the southern part of Karon Beach. Here at the beach, you can also engage in various aquatic activities such as parasailing, kayaking, snorkelling, paddleboarding, and more. If you decide to look for an environment change, you can also walk 15 minutes south to Kata Beach.
Besides relaxing at the beach, you can also take a trip to Karon’s surrounding attractions. One of these attractions is Karon Temple, a colourful and majestic Buddhist temple with plenty to photograph. If you visit Karon Temple on Tuesdays and Fridays, you also get the chance to go shopping at Karon Temple Night Market. This night market features souvenirs, authentic street food of various types, cheap beachwear, and more. The street food is the real star of the show, so be sure to eat mango sticky rice, pad thai, BBQ meat skewers, and other delicious items to your heart’s content.
Another place you can go to near Karon Beach in Phuket is Khlong Bangla Park. where you can play beach volleyball for free with locals and other tourists. There is also an interesting giant golden statue there of a mythical creature that you can photograph; the statue seems to portray a creature that is half-dragon, half-snake. If you have kids tagging along with you, Dino Park Mini Golf is fun for the entire family. The park is almost like Jurassic Park without real dinosaurs, of course. The 18-hole mini-golf course is sure to excite both adults and children, all while working up an appetite to eat at the onsite Dino Bar where you will feel you are on the set of The Flintstones.
