This was our first ever stay at a Club Med and we returned from our holiday relaxed and happy.
Petite Club
We had pre-booked Petite Club for our 2 year old and were surprised to here that this can extend from 8.45am till 9pm (with a break between 5.30pm and 7pm). Our son only went from 9.30am till 4/4.30pm as we wanted to spend time on the beach and over breakfast and dinner with him, but while he was at the club, he seemed to be having a great time. The staff in the Petite Club were great - friendly, caring and kept us updated during the day via WhatsApp after we requested this. They had a ride-on digger there and after day 2, our son kept on asking to go to "the digger place" before even finishing his breakfast. Having those hours to ourselves, really my partner and me to relax and do some of the exercise classes on offer, as well as have a relaxed lunch. Before our arrival, I was nervous our son might not settle but the staff were brilliant at making him feel comfortable. Other points that I had worried about before and want to write here to help other parents: you need to send your child with nappies, wipes, sun lotion and a spare set of clothes. Your child will get lunch as well as snacks throughout the day. Our son has very fair skin and often suffers with nappy rash, however staff were brilliant at reapplying sun lotion and changing him frequently - his bottom stayed peachy and his skin tan-less the entire week :D
Room
We had booked a suite which had a seperate living room with blackout blinds. For us this worked well to be able to put our son's cot (provided by hotel) on a separate room. The room was very spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom with separate WC was excellent and the small fridge and plenty of starge great for packing away all the things that a toddler needs.
Facilities
The beach is absolutely gorgeous and there were always sun loungers available. The main pool was a little busy for us - this is where the GOs do all their activities, quizzes, etc. Many people seemed to enjoy joining in - we found a bit more peace and quite to read books and nap by the adults-only Zen Pool which was as gorgeous as the beach. The gym has basic but good equipment.
Classes
We did some of the exercise classes, including yoga, circuits, run club, tennis, etc and they were all good and fun. However, if you don't speak French be prepared to follow visual cues as the majority of instructors either don't speak French or don't bother. We don't speak French and were able to follow along in all classes but were sad to be missing out on JB's jokes which, telling from the other participants' belly laughs, seem to have been excellent.
Food
We took all of our meals in the main restaurant. Breakfast is good and varied. Lunch was always good. Dinner was of a reliable standard throughout the week though more inspiring on some nights than on others. We certainly didn't have any bad food and the dessert buffet never disappointed. However, would I go out of my way to mention the food we had to others? Nope. It's decent.
Other
This is about the easiest holiday you can have with a toddler and get a bit of rest as a parent. The entire hotel is incredibly family-friendly and due to the high number of other families there you never feel out of place. This was proven when our toddler decided to drop a bowl of sweet potato mash which then landed on other people's tables and even in one unfortunate guest's hair - however, everyone took it in good humor, the staff could not have been quicker in insisting that we don't clean it up ourselves and might have felt really embarrassing in a slightly more formal setting was a rather funny holiday memory at Club Med. What can I say... everyone there is just really friendly and relaxed. It's not 5* service but everyone is well-meaning and tries hard.
We would certainly return - for the kids club, the beach and the Zen Pool.
